since when did easter become like christmas?

so, the customer service rep from Verizon today wished me a happy easter. Like, what the fuck? Since when did easter become like Christmas, where it is assumed everyone celebrates it? and when did you start wishing happy easter to people on days that aren't actuallly ON EASTER SUNDAY?!?!

I'm all in favor of celebrating zombie resurrection bunny day, but, god forbid I was jewish, or pegan or Moslum, or some other practicing face that doesn't recognize Christ's rising from the grave? This is republican American writ large. Assume everybody is Christian, and fuck em if there not.

happy fucking easter indeed.

AP reports US Citizen held by feds in foreign "black sites"

CIA and FBI... have been interrogating terrorism suspects from 19 countries held at secret prisons in Ethiopia, which is notorious for torture and abuse...The detainees include at least one U.S. citizen.

I know its hard for people to get outraged again, given the last 8 years. but anyone who soft sold the "torture bill" from last year when they said it the suspension of Habious corpus couldn't be applied to US citizens?! Those people should be sent out to Ethiopia, where then can apologize to the US Citizen currently being toturtured. Once again, I'm saddened to have been proven correct in my suspicions. Anybody who wants to point to my tinfoil hat can fuck off and die.

9Tail Fox by Jon Courtenay Grimwood

Bobby Zha is a sergeant in the San Francisco Police Department. His years on the force have made him numb to the world, and the people around him, including his wife and daughter. His sudden and unexplained murder leaves his family reeling, and the SFPD bewildered. But nobody is more bewildered then Sergeant Zha, when a nine-tailed celestial fox comes to him at the moment of his death, and tells him he has one chance to put things right.

Now he’s trying to solve his own murder; trying to understand why he has been resurrected in another man’s body;and trying to repair the shattered pieces of his family’s life. But his time seems to be running out...

Here's the cover design, featuring the Spectrum award winning art by Jon Foster. Also included is the original Black Book detective Pulp that I riffed on for the cover... I don't know if I'm supposed to give away the ghost, or the source inspiration for the cover design, but I think they kind of look cool side by side. And Cladia did an excellent job of creating edge and crease wear effects on the cover.
